McGrane & Schuerman has been serving the citizens of Northeast Washington for over half a century.

The firm had its start shortly after World War II when Daniel L. Collins opened a law practice in Colville. After many years as a sole practitioner, he was joined by W. Michael Clark forming the firm of “Collins & Clark.” In 1978, David E. McGrane joined the firm, having moved from Minnesota. The firm become “Collins, Clark and McGrane” with its location being the Collins Building in downtown Colville.

Charles P. Schuerman joined the firm in 1985. After the death of Mr. Clark that same year, in 1986 the firm moved to its current location in the then newly constructed Town Center Building in downtown Colville. After a short time operating under the name of “Collins, Clark, McGrane & Schuerman,” in 1986 the firm adopted the name “McGrane & Schuerman.”

Mr. McGrane served as the part-time elected judge of Stevens County District Court from 1982 until 1996, when he resigned to continue the practice of law full time.

Alison K. McGrane joined the firm in 2006. In the fall of 2011 the firm opened a branch office in Chewelah to better service that area. Michael D. Waters joined the firm in 2013 with the specific intent of residing in and concentrating his practice in Chewelah.

Logan A. Worley, a native and resident of Kettle Falls, joined the firm in 2014. Krystal Tate, a native of Colville, joined the firm in 2017 having previously been engaged in general practice in the Puget Sound area and in the Silicon Valley of California.

Mr. McGrane is now “of counsel” with the firm. Mr. Schuerman retired in 2020.

The firm represents several municipalities, including Colville, Chewelah, Kettle Falls, Metaline Falls, and Ione.

Over the decades of its existence, the firm has gained an impeccable reputation for quality, caring, judgment, timeliness, and consistency. McGrane & Schuerman stands well positioned to continue to provide superior legal services for both new and its long time clients for another half century.
